Methodology
Our methodology is based on collaborative learning. It begins with the English courses taught at UArtes (Universidad de las Artes del Ecuador) as spaces where students generate prototypes of pedagogical artistic content, utilizing their artistic expressions to facilitate the learning of basic English for others.
The artists explore the learning of their English through creative collaborations, which are aimed at teaching English to children and teenagers. Through a selection made by students working as the project's interns to complete hours of community outreach, and in alliance with the university's Language Department, the material generated is adapted, recreated, and optimized for sharing with classrooms at different learning levels of English.
The team of interns also create visual and written content, which becomes supporting material for pedagogical exercises that reinforce communication and comprehension for EFL learners. The content available is classified into four areas or cross-cutting themes for Ecuador: interculturality, gender, environmental education, and children's rights.
Currently, this website acts as a initial UAPK repository available to the Ecuadorian community for free use.
It is hoped that teachers, practitioners, families, and students will be able to find quality artistic content that will allow them to develop their English language skills with lots of artistic wonder, digital accommodation, and didactic fun learning.
It is also expected that networks will be formed with educational institutions, so that UArtes students can implement these resources in an array of classrooms as part of their community work hours, as well as pedagogical arts research.
